How to Make a WordPress Website in 2024 (Step-by-Step Guide)

Step #1: Choose a Domain Name

The first step to making a WordPress website is to choose a domain name.

A domain name is the address of your website on the internet, such as www.example.com.

Step #2: Choose a Web Hosting Provider

The next step to making a WordPress website is to choose a web hosting provider.

A web hosting provider is a company that stores your website’s files and delivers them to your visitors’ browsers.

Without a web hosting provider, your website won’t be accessible on the internet.

There are many web hosting providers out there, but not all of them are created equal.

Once you’ve selected your plan, click on the “Launch Now” button.

You’ll be taken to a page where you can enter your domain name.

If you already have a domain name, you can enter it in the “I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers” box.

If you don’t have a domain name, you can enter your desired domain name in the “Register a new domain” box.

You’ll see a list of available domain extensions.

Choose the one that suits your website best and click on the “Check” than “Continue” button.

Review Your Checkout on Next Page and Click on “Checkout”.

You’ll be asked to fill in your personal and payment information.

Once you’ve filled in all the details, click on the “Complete Order” button.

You’ll receive a confirmation email with your login details and instructions on how to access your Siteskyline dashboard.

Congratulations! You’ve just completed the first two steps of making a WordPress website.

Step #3: Install WordPress

The third step to making a WordPress website is to install WordPress.

WordPress is the software that powers your website and allows you to create and manage your content.

To install WordPress, log in to your Siteskyline dashboard and click on the “Login Into Cpanel” tab.

You’ll see a button that says “Install”. Click on it.

You’ll be taken to a page where you can enter you’r site name and tagline’ve to choose domain and enter website detials such as website name, website tagline, website username, username password.

Your site name is the title of your website, such as “Siteskyline”.

Your tagline is a short phrase that describes what your website is about, such as “Premium WordPress Hosting” or “The SEO Expert”.

Your Admin Username, Admin Password and Admin Email will be used later to directly logging into your wordpress dashbaord.

You can change these later, so don’t worry too much about them.

Once you’ve entered all information, click on the “Install” button.

Once the installation is complete, you’ll see a success message with your WordPress login details. It’ll show you your website URL (https://yoursite.com) as well as wordpress dashboard URL (https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/).

You’ll also receive an email with the same information.

You Can go back to “WordPress Manager by Softaculous” and login into wordpress without username and password.

Click on “Login” button to login into WordPress.

Note: Make sure to save your WordPress login details in a safe place. You’ll need them to access your WordPress dashboard.

To log in to your WordPress dashboard, go to www.yourdomain.com/wp-admin and enter your username and password.

The WordPress dashboard is where you can manage your website’s settings, appearance, plugins, themes, and content.

You can access the WordPress dashboard by clicking on the “Dashboard” link on the left sidebar.

The WordPress dashboard has several sections, such as:

Step #4: Choose a Theme

The fourth step to making a WordPress website is to choose a theme.

A theme is a collection of files that determines the appearance and layout of your website.

WordPress comes with a few default themes that you can use, but they are quite basic and boring.

If you want to make your website stand out and look professional, you’ll need to choose a better theme.

There are thousands of WordPress themes available, both free and paid.

You can find them on the official WordPress.org theme directory, or on third-party websites, such as ThemeForest, Elegant Themes, and StudioPress.

You’ll see a page with the themes that are currently installed on your website.

You can preview, activate, or delete any of these themes by hovering over them and clicking on the buttons.

To add a new theme, click on the “Add New” button at the top.

You’ll see a page with thousands of free themes that you can browse and install.

You can use the filters on the top to narrow down your options by category, feature, or layout.

You can also use the search box on the right to find a specific theme by name or keyword.

To preview a theme, hover over it and click on the “Preview” button.

You’ll see a live demo of how the theme looks on your website.

You can also switch between different devices and screen sizes by clicking on the icons on the bottom.

To install a theme, hover over it and click on the “Install” button.

The theme will be downloaded and installed on your website.

To activate the theme, hover over it and click on the “Activate” button.

The theme will be applied to your website and you’ll see a confirmation message.

You can also customize the theme by clicking on the “Customize” button.

This will open the WordPress customizer, where you can change various aspects of your theme, such as the colors, fonts, backgrounds, menus, widgets, and more.

You can see a live preview of your changes on the right and save them by clicking on the “Publish” button on the top.

Note: If you want to install a premium theme that you’ve purchased from a third-party website, you’ll need to upload it manually.

To do that, go to your WordPress dashboard and click on the “Appearance” link on the left sidebar.

Then, click on the “Add New” button at the top.

Then, click on the “Upload Theme” button at the top.

You’ll see a page where you can choose and upload the theme file from your computer.

The theme file should be in a .zip format and contain all the necessary files and folders.

Once you’ve selected the theme file, click on the “Install Now” button.

The theme will be uploaded and installed on your website.

You can then activate and customize it as described above.

Step #5: Add Content

The fifth and final step to making a WordPress website is to add content.

To add a new post, click on the “Add New” button at the top.

You’ll see a page where you can write and publish your post.

The WordPress post editor has two main parts:

Blocks are the building blocks of your post, and they allow you to add different types of content, such as paragraphs, headings, images, lists, quotes, videos, and more.

To add a new block, click on the plus icon on the top left corner or on the bottom of the existing block.

You’ll see a menu with different categories and types of blocks that you can choose from.

You can also use the search box on the top to find a specific block by name or keyword.

To edit a block, click on it and use the toolbar on the top or the settings on the right to change its options and appearance.

You can also move, duplicate, or delete a block by clicking on the three dots on the right of the toolbar.

Once you’ve finished writing and formatting your post, you can preview it by clicking on the “Preview” button on the top right corner.

You’ll see a new tab with how your post looks on your website.

You can also switch between different devices and screen sizes by clicking on the icons on the bottom.

If you’re happy with your post, you can publish it by clicking on the “Publish” button on the top right corner.

You’ll see a confirmation message with a link to view your post on your website.

You can also edit or delete your post at any time by going back to the WordPress dashboard and clicking on the “Posts” link on the left sidebar.

To add a new page to your WordPress website, go to your WordPress dashboard and click on the “Pages” link on the left sidebar.

You’ll see a page with the pages that are already published on your website.

You can edit or delete any of these pages by hovering over them and clicking on the buttons.

To add a new page, click on the “Add New” button at the top.

You’ll see a page where you can write and publish your page.

The WordPress page editor is similar to the WordPress post editor, except that it doesn’t have some of the features and options that are specific to posts, such as categories, tags, and comments.

You can use the same blocks and methods to create and format your page as you did for your post.
