Getting Started with Blogger Import Wizard
Welcome! This guide walks you through everything you need to know to start migrating your Blogger site to WordPress. Whether you're moving a handful of posts or a full blog with hundreds of articles, you're in the right place.
Zanim zaczniesz
Before installing the plugin, here's what you need:
- A WordPress site — You'll need a self-hosted WordPress website (WordPress.org, not WordPress.com). The plugin runs inside your WordPress admin area.
- Your Blogger blog must be public — The plugin checks that your Blogger site is publicly accessible. Private or password-protected blogs cannot be imported.
- A modern web browser — The import process runs in your browser, so any up-to-date version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge works perfectly.
- Optional: A Pro license — If you plan to import more than 50 posts or 20 pages in a single run, or if you want to import comments, consider purchasing a Pro license from Siteskyline. The free plan is great for smaller blogs and testing.
Instalacja
Follow these steps to get the plugin up and running on your WordPress site.
- Pobierz wtyczkę from the Siteskyline website or upload it directly from your WordPress admin.
- Go to your WordPress admin dashboard i przejdź do Wtyczki → Dodaj nowe.
- Click the "Upload Plugin" button at the top of the page.
- Choose the plugin zip file you downloaded and click "Install Now."
- Once installation completes, kliknij "Activate" to turn on the plugin.
- After activation, you'll see a new menu item called "Blogger Import" in your WordPress admin sidebar. Click it to get started.
Konfiguracja po raz pierwszy
The first time you visit the Import tab, you'll see a clean, step-by-step interface. There isn't much to configure upfront — just jump right in.
What to expect
The plugin organizes your import into three simple steps:
| Krok | What happens |
|---|---|
| Step 1: Connect your Blogger site | Enter your Blogger URL and preview what's available to import. Configure your import options. |
| Step 2: Import in progress | Watch your content migrate in real time with a live progress bar and summary cards. |
| Step 3: Review and finish | Once complete, review your imported content and decide what to do next. |
No account creation is needed. No complicated settings to wade through. You're ready to start importing as soon as the plugin is active.
Twoje pierwsze kroki
Here are two key features to try first so you can see the plugin in action and feel confident about the migration process.
1. Check your Blogger blog and preview what's available
This is where every import begins. You'll enter your Blogger URL and let the plugin scan your site.
- Otwórz Import patka.
- w "Blogger URL" field, enter the full web address of your Blogger blog (for example,
https://myblog.blogspot.com). - Kliknij "Check Blog" przycisk.
- The plugin will connect to your Blogger feed and show you:
- A connection status (green if everything looks good).
- The exact number of posts available to import.
- The number of pages available.
- If you have a Pro license, the number of comments as well.
- A summary of your import plan limits (free or Pro).
This step is completely safe — no content is imported yet. It's just a preview so you know exactly what to expect.
2. Run your first import
Once you've checked your blog and seen the preview, you're ready to import.
- Pod "Content to Import", choose what you'd like to bring over:
- Both Posts and Pages — Imports everything.
- Posts Only — Just your blog posts.
- Pages Only — Just your static pages.
- With a Pro license, you'll also see Comments Only I Posts and Comments.
- Configure the other options to your liking:
- Import Blogger Labels As — Choose whether labels become WordPress Categories Lub Tags.
- Assign Author to — Either assign all imported content to an existing WordPress user, or import each author from Blogger as a new WordPress user.
- Rewrite Internal Links to — Keep old Blogger links, rewrite them to your current WordPress URL, or point them to a different URL entirely.
- When you're ready, click "Start Import".
- Watch the live progress bar and summary cards update as each post or page is imported. A timestamped event log shows you every action the plugin takes.
- When the import finishes, you'll see a completion message and a checklist with helpful next steps.
Tip: Your original post dates, publication statuses, and featured images are all preserved automatically. Future-dated posts become scheduled drafts in WordPress.
Blog Check & Content Preview
Co to robi
This feature lets you verify that your Blogger site is public and reachable before importing any content. It provides a preview of exactly how many posts, pages, and (Pro) comments are available for import, along with your free-plan limits—so you know what to expect before committing to the import.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Idź do Import tab and locate Step 1: Connect your Blogger site.
- Enter your blog’s full public web address in the Blogger URL pole.
- Kliknij Check Blog przycisk.
- Wait a moment while the plugin fetches your blog’s public feed.
- Review the displayed connection status, content counts, and import plan summary.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Blogger URL | The text field where you enter the public web address of the Blogger blog you want to import from. |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Make sure your Blogger blog is set to public before checking; private or restricted blogs won’t connect.
- Use the preview counts to confirm you’re importing the right site before proceeding to the next step.
- Keep an eye on the free-plan limits shown in the preview—if you’re close to the limit, consider upgrading to Pro before running the full import.
- If the check fails, double-check the URL for typos or missing parts (e.g., the full
yourblog.blogspot.comaddress).
Import Configuration Options
Co to robi
Configure exactly how content is imported from Blogger into WordPress. You can choose which content types to bring over, how Blogger labels are mapped, who gets author credit, and how internal links are handled.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Idź do Import tab and complete the connection step.
- Pod Step 1. Connect your Blogger site, find the Configuration dropdowns.
- Adjust each setting to match your preferences (see the table below for details).
- When you are ready, click Start Import. Your selections will be applied to all imported content.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Content to Import | Dropdown to choose what to import: Both Posts and Pages, Posts Only, or Pages Only. With a Pro license, additional options include Comments Only and Posts and Comments. |
| Import Blogger Labels As | Dropdown to choose whether Blogger labels become WordPress Categories or Tags. |
| Assign Author to | Dropdown with two modes: 'Assign to existing user' (shows a WordPress user selector) or 'Import from post' (creates new WordPress users for each Blogger author, matching by display name). |
| Assign Author to – Existing User | When 'Assign to existing user' is selected, a dropdown of all WordPress users appears to assign as the author of every imported post. |
| Rewrite Internal Links to | Dropdown with three options: 'Don't rewrite (keep Blogger URLs)', 'Current WordPress URL', or 'A different URL' (shows a custom URL text field). |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Choose content carefully – If you only need posts, select “Posts Only” to avoid importing unwanted pages.
- Map labels consistently – Decide if you want your Blogger labels to become WordPress categories or tags. This affects how your site’s taxonomy is organized after import.
- Author assignment matters – If you want to preserve original author names, use “Import from post”. If you prefer to assign all content to a single editor, use “Assign to existing user” and pick the appropriate user.
- Plan your link rewriting – If you are redirecting an old Blogger domain, select “A different URL” and enter the new domain so internal links point to the correct location.
Import Execution with Live Progress
Co to robi
Execute your migration from Blogger to WordPress with a real-time progress bar that shows exactly how the import is going. Live summary counters let you see at a glance how many items have been planned, imported, failed, remain, or were skipped. The system handles duplicate detection, free-plan limits, and automatic featured image import from the first image in each post, while preserving original publish dates (future-dated posts become scheduled).
Jak z niego korzystać
- On the Import tab, at Step 2/3, click the Start Import przycisk.
- Watch the live progress bar update as each item is processed.
- Monitor the summary cards (planned, imported, failed, remaining, skipped) to see real-time status.
- Review the timestamped event log for detailed information on each step.
- When the import finishes, a completion message will appear.
Ustawienia i opcje
There are no configurable settings for this feature. All behavior (duplicate detection, free-plan limits, featured image import, date handling) is enforced server-side.
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Monitor the progress bar and summary cards to quickly spot any issues, such as a high number of failed items, while the import is still running.
- Check the event log after the import completes for any failed items; you can use the Retry Failed Items feature to import them later.
- Be aware that duplicate detection is automatic – the same content will not be imported twice, so you can safely run the import again if needed.
- Review your scheduled posts after the import – any posts with a future original date will be saved as scheduled posts in WordPress.
- For a smoother experience, ensure your WordPress site has sufficient resources (like memory and execution time) to handle a large import.
Pause and Resume Import
Co to robi
This feature lets you safely pause an import that is currently running. Your current progress, queue, and settings are saved to your profile so you can resume later, even if you close your browser.
Jak z niego korzystać
- During an import, click the Pause przycisk.
- The current item finishes processing, and your session is saved.
- A banner appears with options to resume or discard the paused import.
- To continue later, click the Resume Import banner button.
- The import restarts from where it left off, processing the next item.
- If you no longer need the paused import, click Discard to cancel the session.
Ustawienia i opcje
Nie ma możliwości konfiguracji ustawień tej funkcji.
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- You can safely close your browser after pausing an import; your progress is saved.
- Używać Discard to cancel a paused session if you want to start over from scratch.
- Pausing is useful if you need to free up system resources or fix a configuration issue mid-import.
- The paused session stays tied to your user profile, so only you can resume it from the same account.
Retry Failed Import Items
Co to robi
After an import run finishes, any items that failed (even after one automatic retry) are collected so you can address them. Instead of restarting the entire import, you can click ‘Retry Failed Items’ to re‑import only those specific items, saving time and effort.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Complete an import as you normally would.
- When the import finishes, look at the post‑import completion area. If any items failed, the ‘Retry Failed Items’ button appears.
- Trzask Retry Failed Items.
- The system re‑queues just the failed items and processes them again.
- A live progress indicator shows the status, and the results update once the retry is done.
Ustawienia i opcje
This feature does not have any configurable settings. It is a one‑click action that retries all displayed failed items automatically.
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- After retrying, check the updated results to confirm all items were imported successfully.
- If the same items fail repeatedly, review your source data for errors or inconsistencies before starting a new full import.
- The system already attempts one automatic retry during the initial import, so persistent failures often indicate a data issue that needs correction.
- Use this feature to fix partial import failures quickly without affecting items that were already imported correctly.
Post-Import Review Checklist
Co to robi
After an import completes, a checklist provides direct links to review imported posts and pages in your site’s admin area, enable Blogger redirects, and run another import. If any items failed during import, a support panel is shown to help you address issues.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Complete an import. The process ends with a step called Step 3. Review and finish.
- A checklist with several cards will appear. Each card contains a link for a specific action.
- Click the link that matches what you want to do:
- Review imported posts – opens the Posts screen so you can verify your content.
- Review imported pages – opens the Pages screen to check imported pages.
- Enable Blogger redirects – opens the settings where you can turn on URL redirects from your old Blogger site.
- Run another import – takes you back to the Import screen to start a new import.
- If any items failed during the import, you will also see a Open Support link. Click it to get help with the failed items.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Nic | Ta funkcja nie ma żadnych konfigurowalnych ustawień. |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Use the checklist immediately after an import to quickly confirm that your posts and pages transferred correctly.
- If you see a support panel for failed items, address them as soon as possible to avoid missing content or broken links.
- The “Enable Blogger redirects” option is especially useful if you are migrating from Blogger and want to preserve search rankings.
- You can click “Run another import” right away, even if you haven’t finished reviewing the current import—helpful when bringing in multiple batches of content.
URL Redirect Settings
Co to robi
This feature lets you turn 301 redirects on or off for imported Blogger content. When enabled, old Blogger URLs (like /2024/01/post-name.html Lub /p/page-name.html) automatically redirect to their new WordPress permalinks. This helps preserve your search engine rankings and ensures visitors who click old links still reach the right pages.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Idź do Ustawienia tab in the plugin.
- w SEO Settings section, find the checkbox labeled Enable URL redirects for imported posts and pages.
- Check the box to turn redirects on, or uncheck it to turn them off.
- Kliknij Zapisz ustawienia button to apply your choice.
Once saved, WordPress will automatically handle 301 redirects from the old Blogger URL patterns to the corresponding new WordPress URLs.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Enable URL Redirects | Toggles 301 redirects on or off for all imported posts and pages. When enabled, old Blogger .html URLs are automatically redirected to the new WordPress permalink for that content. |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Enable this setting as soon as you finish importing your Blogger content to avoid broken links and preserve SEO value.
- If you prefer to use a different redirect plugin or want to review each redirect before it goes live, leave this setting off and create your own 301 rules.
- Because these are permanent (301) redirects, make sure your WordPress permalink structure is finalized before enabling — that way search engines and visitors are sent to the correct, permanent URLs.
- Once activated, the redirects work automatically—no additional rules or configuration are needed for the covered Blogger URL patterns.
Profesjonalne zarządzanie licencjami
Co to robi
This feature lets you activate, deactivate, and verify a Pro license key. Once activated, it unlocks unlimited imports, comment import, exportable redirect rules, label redirect support, and premium support. The license is validated against the Siteskyline licensing server.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Idź do Licencja tab (visible when the Pro add‑on is installed).
- w License Management card, type your Pro license key into the Klucz licencyjny pole.
- Kliknij Aktywuj licencję button. The plugin contacts the licensing server to verify the key.
- If the key is valid, the status shows as Aktywny together with the expiry date. All Pro features are now unlocked.
- To deactivate the license on this site, click Dezaktywuj licencję. This frees the key for use on another site.
- At any time, click Sprawdź stan licencji to check whether your license is still active and valid.
- If you don’t have a license, click the Kup licencję link to buy one directly from Siteskyline.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Klucz licencyjny | Text field to enter the Pro license key purchased from Siteskyline. |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Keep your license key in a secure place. You’ll need it if you ever migrate the site or reinstall the plugin.
- Activate the license on your production site first, and only deactivate it if you plan to move the license to another domain.
- Skorzystaj z Sprawdź stan licencji button periodically to ensure your Pro features remain active without interruption.
- If you encounter a validation error, double‑check that you entered the key exactly as it appears in your Siteskyline account.
Comment Import (Pro)
Co to robi
Import comments from your Blogger posts directly into your site. Each comment is matched to its parent post using the original Blogger URL, and threaded replies stay nested. Built-in duplicate detection ensures comments are never imported twice.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Make sure you have an active Pro license.
- Go to the Import tab.
- Otwórz Content to Import dropdown and choose either Comments Only Lub Posts and Comments.
- The preview will show a Comments status card with the total number of comments found.
- Run the import. During the process, comments are fetched, matched to their posts, and inserted with their reply threads intact. Duplicates are automatically skipped.
Ustawienia i opcje
This feature does not include any additional settings. The only choice is the import type you select in step 3 above.
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- If you choose “Comments Only”, make sure the corresponding posts have already been imported; otherwise comments won’t find their parent post.
- For a single‑step setup, select “Posts and Comments” to import posts and their comments together.
- Duplicate detection means you can safely run the import again without creating duplicate comments.
- After importing, review the Comments status card in the preview to confirm the correct number of comments were added.
Exportable Redirect Rules (Pro)
Co to robi
This feature lets you view and copy pre-written Apache (.htaccess) and Nginx server redirect rules. These rules replicate the Blogger URL redirects in your server configuration, so redirects continue working even if the plugin is deactivated.
Jak z niego korzystać
- Idź do Ustawienia tab (make sure your Pro license is active).
- Zlokalizuj Exportable Redirect Rules sekcja.
- Choose either the Apache (.htaccess) Rules lub Nginx (server block) Rules textarea.
- Kliknij Kopia button next to the rules you want to use.
- Paste the copied rules into your server’s
.htaccessfile or Nginx server block configuration. - Save the file and restart your web server if needed. Redirects will now persist even if the plugin is ever deactivated.
Ustawienia i opcje
| Ustawienie | Co kontroluje |
|---|---|
| Apache (.htaccess) Rules | A read-only textarea that displays Apache mod_rewrite rules for redirecting Blogger .html URLs and label pages to WordPress URLs. Includes a Copy Apache Rules przycisk. |
| Nginx (server block) Rules | A read-only textarea that displays Nginx redirect rules for redirecting Blogger .html URLs and label pages to WordPress URLs. Includes a Copy Nginx Rules przycisk. |
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Add these server‑level rules as a safety net so that redirects remain active even if you temporarily need to deactivate the plugin.
- Always create a backup of your
.htaccessor Nginx configuration file before pasting new rules. - Place the rules in the correct location: for Apache, insert them inside the
block; for Nginx, add them to the appropriateserverblock. - After adding the rules, test a few old Blogger URLs to confirm they redirect to the correct WordPress pages.
Label Redirect Support (Pro)
Co to robi
When a visitor lands on an old Blogger label archive page (for example, /search/label/LabelName), this feature automatically sends them to the corresponding WordPress category archive page (such as /category/label-name/). It works alongside the standard post and page URL redirects, so your label‑based traffic keeps its SEO value.
Jak z niego korzystać
There is no separate configuration needed for this feature. It activates automatically when both of these conditions are met:
- You have a valid Pro license.
- URL redirects are enabled in the plugin's Settings.
If those conditions are satisfied, all label archive redirects are handled for you without any further action.
Ustawienia i opcje
This feature does not have its own settings. It is always active when your Pro license is valid and URL redirects are turned on in the plugin's Settings page.
Wskazówki i najlepsze praktyki
- Make sure your WordPress category archive pages use names that match your old Blogger labels. Consistent naming helps visitors find the right content.
- Because these redirects are automatic, you don’t need to create manual rules for each label. This saves time and keeps your redirect list clean.
- The redirects work in addition to your normal post and page URL redirects. There is no conflict between the two types of redirects.
- After enabling URL redirects in Settings, test a few old label URLs from Blogger to confirm they redirect to the correct category pages.
