Getting Started
Welcome to SkyTranslate! This guide will help you get up and running with bulk translation for your multilingual WordPress site.
Before You Begin
Make sure you meet the following requirements:
- WordPress – A running WordPress installation (any modern version).
- TranslatePress – The TranslatePress plugin must be installed, activated, and configured with at least one secondary language. Your multilingual setup should be ready before using SkyTranslate.
- Admin permissions – You need the ability to install and activate plugins, and manage translation settings.
No additional setup is required to start with the Free version – it uses Google Translate right away. If you plan to upgrade to Pro later, you will need API keys for your chosen premium AI engine.
Installation
- Download the SkyTranslate plugin from your purchase source or the WordPress plugin repository.
- In your WordPress admin, go to プラグイン → 新規追加.
- クリック Upload Plugin and select the downloaded
.zipfile, or search for “SkyTranslate” if it’s in the repository. - クリック 今すぐインストール、次に 有効化.
- After activation, you’ll see a new menu item: SkyPlugins → SkyTranslate Bulk Translate.
That’s it – the plugin is installed and ready.
First-Time Setup
The only essential setting to get started is choosing your translation engine.
- 「 SkyPlugins → SkyTranslate Bulk Translate in your WordPress admin.
- 左下の 設定 タブに切り替えます。
- 選択 Google Translate (the default Free option).
- クリック 設定の保存.
Your translation engine is now configured. All bulk, background, and editor translations will use Google Translate until you switch to a different engine.
Your First Steps
Translate a group of posts
- に行きます 一括編集 tab under SkyPlugins → SkyTranslate Bulk Translate.
- In the table, you’ll see your published posts and pages. Use the checkboxes to select the items you want to translate.
- で Target Language dropdown, choose one language or すべての言語 (to translate into every secondary language you have set up).
- Adjust the Batch Size および API Timeout if needed (the defaults work well for most sites).
- Skip already translated languages is enabled by default – this avoids re-translating content that is already fully translated.
- クリック 選択した項目を自動翻訳.
A progress bar will appear and a live log will show each step. When it finishes, your content is translated and saved in the TranslatePress dictionary.
Queue translations to run in the background
- を開きます Background Translate タブに切り替えます。
- Choose an Operation Mode:
- Only untranslated / partial content – translates what’s missing.
- Force translate whole selection – overwrites all existing translations.
- 選択してください 投稿タイプ および Target Language.
- Set Strings Per Batch および API Timeout (adjust if you have many strings or a slow API).
- Optionally, set a Retry Limit to handle temporary failures.
- クリック Start Operation.
The plugin will create a queue and process each item one by one using WordPress cron. You can pause, resume, or delete the operation at any time. The progress table updates in real-time so you can see what’s done and what’s next.
一括翻訳
What It Does
This feature lets you select multiple published posts or pages and translate them in bulk using Google Translate or premium AI models. It supports batch processing with configurable batch size and timeout, and provides a progress bar to track the translation progress.
How to Use It
- に行きます 一括編集 tab under SkyTranslate.
- Use the search bar and post type filter to find the content you want to translate.
- Select the posts or pages by checking the boxes next to each item.
- Choose a Target Language from the drop-down – either “All Languages” or a specific secondary language.
- Adjust the Batch Size (number of strings processed per request) and API Timeout (maximum seconds to wait for a response).
- Optionally, enable Skip already translated languages to avoid re‑translating content that is already complete.
- クリック 選択した項目を自動翻訳 (to translate only missing or partial translations) or Force Translate Selected (to overwrite all existing translations).
- Watch the progress bar and live status log. Wait until the process finishes.
Settings & Options
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Target Language | Filters which language(s) to translate into. Choose “All Languages” or a specific secondary language. |
| Batch Size | Number of strings to process per batch request (5–1000). |
| API Timeout | Maximum seconds (30–600) to wait for a translation API response. |
| Skip already translated languages | When checked, avoids re‑translating content that is already fully translated. |
Tips & Best Practices
- Use “Skip already translated languages” to save time and resources – it avoids reprocessing content that is already complete.
- Adjust Batch Size carefully: a larger batch can speed up translation, but may cause timeouts if your content is lengthy. Start with a moderate value (e.g., 100) and increase as needed.
- Choose the right translate button: use Auto Translate for incremental updates, and Force Translate when you want to completely refresh all translations.
- Keep an eye on the progress bar and status log – if an API timeout is too short, some translations may fail. Try increasing the timeout value if errors occur.
Background Translate
What It Does
The Background Translate feature lets you queue up content for automatic translation. It uses WP‑Cron to process translations in the background, so the operation continues even after you close your browser. You can choose to translate only missing or partial content, or force‑translate the entire selection.
How to Use It
- に行きます Background Translate tab inside SkyTranslate一括翻訳.
- Configure your translation settings (see the table below for details).
- クリック Start Operation to begin queuing and translating your content.
- While the operation is running, use Pause Operation to temporarily stop processing or Resume Operation to continue.
- To remove the current operation entirely, click Delete Operation.
Settings & Options
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| Operation Mode | Choose Only untranslated / partial content WebP Force translate whole selection. |
| 投稿タイプ | Limit the operation to Posts, Pages, or all supported content types. |
| Target Language | Choose one language or queue every secondary TranslatePress language. |
| Strings Per Batch | How many strings to translate at once per item (5–1000). |
| API Timeout | Max seconds (30–600) to wait for an AI response. |
| Retry Limit | Number of times to retry a failed item (1–20) before marking it as failed. |
Tips & Best Practices
- 使用してください Only untranslated / partial content to save API calls and speed up the process when you only need to fill in missing translations.
- If you need to re‑translate everything (for example after editing the source content), choose Force translate whole selection.
- Queuing multiple target languages at once lets you handle all secondary languages in a single operation.
- Keep an eye on the real‑time status table to monitor progress, spot failures early, and adjust settings if needed.
Settings (Google Translate Engine)
What It Does
Configure the translation engine used by all translation tools in SkyTranslate. Your choice here applies to both bulk translation and the inline editor helper. The page also displays which post types are available for automatic translation.
How to Use It
- In your WordPress admin, go to SkyPlugins > SkyTranslate Bulk Translate.
- 左下の 設定 タブに切り替えます。
- Select a translation engine by clicking its radio button.
- The free version includes Google Translate.

Tips & Best Practices
- The translation engine you choose here is used everywhere – bulk translation and the editor helper. Changing it will affect all future translations.
- If you are using the free version, only Google Translate is available. Upgrading to Pro unlocks AI-powered engines with potentially higher quality and customization.
- To see which post types support auto-translate, look at the list shown on the same Settings page.
- Always click 設定の保存 after making a change, or your selection won’t be applied.
TranslatePress Editor Integration (String Fetcher)
What It Does
Adds a blue AI翻訳 button directly inside the TranslatePress editor. With a single click, it scans the entire preview page and extracts all translatable content — including SEO meta fields — then displays them in a floating panel. You can auto-translate every string at once using Google Translate (or Pro AI) and save the translations to the TranslatePress dictionary.
How to Use It
- Open the TranslatePress editor for the page you want to translate (the editor loads when the URL contains the
trp-edit-translationparameter). - In the editor toolbar, locate the blue AI Translate button next to the Save button.
- 左下の AI翻訳 button. The plugin will scan the preview and editor DOM and gather all translatable strings.
- A floating results panel will appear, listing all fetched strings.
- To auto-translate all strings, click the AI翻訳 button inside the results panel.
- Use the search bar at the top of the panel to quickly find specific strings.
- When you’re done, close the panel by clicking the close icon (×) or the backdrop area.
Settings & Options
| Setting | What It Controls |
|---|---|
| AI Translate button in editor toolbar | Adds a blue button next to the Save button that fetches and translates all strings on the page. |
Tips & Best Practices
- One-click page translation: Use the AI翻訳 button for a quick, full-page translation instead of translating strings one by one.
- SEO metadata included: The fetcher also picks up SEO meta fields (e.g., title, description) from the preview — make sure to review them after auto-translation.
- Review after auto-translate: Google Translate or Pro AI will fill in all strings automatically, but it’s a good practice to check the results for context accuracy.
- Search before translating: If you only need to translate a subset, use the search bar in the results panel to locate specific strings before clicking the AI Translate button.
Clear Translations
What It Does
The Clear Translations feature lets you delete existing translations for specific content items. You can remove translations for a single language or for all languages at once. This permanently deletes the translations from the TranslatePress dictionary.
How to Use It
- Go to your WordPress Admin dashboard and navigate to SkyPlugins > SkyTranslate Bulk Translate.
- を開きます 一括編集 タブに切り替えます。
- Locate the post or content item you want to update.
- To clear a translation for one language, click the trash icon on the language pill for that language.
- To clear all translations for the item, click the Clear Translations row action link.
- A confirmation dialog will appear. Click Confirm to proceed.
- The plugin will fetch the page strings, find the matching entries in the dictionary, and remove the translations.
Settings & Options
This feature does not have any configurable settings.
Tips & Best Practices
- Clear per‑language when you only need to update one language.
Use the trash icon on a specific language pill to avoid affecting translations for other languages. - Clearing translations is permanent.
Once removed, the translation cannot be recovered unless you have a backup. Consider exporting your translations first if you might need them later. - Test with a single language first.
If you’re unsure about clearing all translations, start by clearing one language to confirm the result. - After clearing, the post will display its default language content for the affected languages until new translations are added.
Language Status Overview
What It Does

Tips & Best Practices
- Use the color-coded pills to quickly spot posts that need attention (red or gray indicators often mean missing or empty translations).

- Prioritize posts with “missing” or “empty” states — these are the best candidates for bulk translation.
- The summary “X/Y translated” lets you scan many posts at once and decide where to focus your translation efforts.

- Choose the right model for your needs – For general translations, a faster model may be enough. For nuanced or technical content, try a more advanced model (e.g. Gemini 2.5 Pro or GPT‑5).
- Test with a single translation first – Before running a large bulk translation, test a small batch to verify that the engine and model produce the quality you want.
- Use OpenRouter for flexibility – With OpenRouter, you can access hundreds of models from different providers without managing separate keys. Check the model identifier format required by OpenRouter.
